A new landing pad for Spaceships and accommodation for wayward travellers

On the wake of the massive earthquake that hit Christchurch in recent weeks, many families and companies were forced to evacuate and abandon their premises, unable to return indefinitely. As business ground to a halt, accommodation has become a big issue as hotels and backpackers etc were also forced to close their doors.

One of Transfercar’s valued partners, Spaceships Rental Campervans,  were one of the unfortunate rental companies to be hit hard and have now relocated to a new depot that they call “The Castle”:

57 West Coast Road

Their new landing pad includes:

  • A Unique location 3.4kms from Christchurch Airport (6 minutes)
  • Great accessibility to all the main highways north, south and west of Christchurch via State Highway 1 and 73.
  • The ability to expand the capacity of their fleet
  • A Local Pub, garden bar, petrol station and ski hire shop near by

On top of this big move, Spaceships have also secured a permit to put traveller accommodation in their new Spaceships facility. In about three weeks they will be able to accommodate people pre and post departure from Christchurch Airport. This facility will house new backpacker style rooms at hostel prices. They will maintain this capability until there is no longer a need (which is predicted to be up to two years).
