Transfercar’s most frequently asked questions

Q: How do I register with Transfercar.co.nz & Transfercar.com.au?

A: Click on the registration link on the top right hand corner of the website and fill in the details requested. An activation email will be sent to your account within a couple of minutes. If it doesn’t arrive, it may have been caught up in your spam box so check there, otherwise contact us: [email protected]. If your activation link does not work, you may already be active so try to log in using your username and password you have created.

Q: Do you have vehicles going from X to Y?

A: All the vehicles we have available are listed on our website. The rental car operators list their available vehicles directly onto our website so we do not know which vehicles will come up in the future.
However, new vehicles are added to the site on a daily basis so if you don’t find the one you are looking for right now, keep coming back!
The easiest way find out about new vehicles added to our database is to subscribe to our email notifications. You need to register as a user on the website then go to the ‘My Transfercar’ area then ‘Email notification’. You can also specify which routes to be notified about.

Q: Can we purchase extra days?

A: If you can purchase extra days on the relocation, it will say on the listing details. Click on the + sign next to the listing to see what additional options are available.

Q: What do the dates mean?

A: The dates specify the earliest and latest pick up and drop off dates. You will be given a certain number of days to drive the vehicle between these dates.

Q: Does one day mean a 24 hour period?

A: For cars you have 24 hours from the time of pick up. For campervans and motorhomes, the day you pick the vehicle up is considered one day.

Q: How long does it take to get an answer?

A: It can take up to 48 hours to get a response from the owner. This can also be a lot less however over the weekends some companies do not answer their emails regularly so you may not hear back until Monday.

Q: Does the ferry crossing include passengers?

A: This will say on the listing details however normally the ferry crossing is for the vehicle only and you can pay the vehicle owner for your passage.

Q: How much fuel is included in the relocation?

A: If free fuel is specified this will mean one full tank of petrol is included in the relocation or an amount specified in the listing details. Normally the vehicle will then come with a free tank of gas and you will not be required to return it with a full tank.

Q: If insurance is included, what is the bond for?
