I have used transfercar multiple times. This time i had ace rentals but didnt have the option not to purchase insurance as i only had a debit card on me. This resulted in hidden costs. Due to the website hiding the company names until my request has been confirmed (and therefore too late to back out) i cannot choose to go with a company that does give me the option of no or cheaper insurance.

The foam mattresses don't quite sit flat all the way across. They dip on the side nearest the door due to the gap between the mattress and the step. This meant that my wife who slept on that side was unable to maintain a flat sleeping position. This could be rectified if you provided some kind of support structure (such as a small block of foam) that could be inserted in the gap.

Yes, the website inputs your Facebook name into the booking details which is frustrating because my Facebook name is different to my legal name and caused issues when I went to pick the car up. Other than that it was good

The van which was pictured on the transfer car website did not match the van I picked up. Though it was never explicitly stated which vehicle it would be, the pictures did clearly make it look like a newer Toyota through Apollo. This is why I chose this vehicle. The email stated that I would be picking up from Apollo Brisbane, combined with the picture then made me assume it was an Apollo Camper that I would be taking. When I turned up to Apollo I was given a ‘Hippie Van’ which was an old Mitsubishi Starwagon. Though Hippie is a subsidiary of Apollo I think this should have been stated and made clear. They are not the same class of vehicle. This is what should have been displayed: https://www.transfercar.com.au/relocation/Brisbane/Cairns/262568.html But as can be seen from this transfer that is not what was pictured. I did not want to make a fuss so I just took the van, even though it was not what I expected at all. Unfortunately halfway up to Cairns the muffler on the van snapped around a previously repaired part half way along the vehicle as I was driving down the highway. RACQ had to be called to tow the van and I was stranded at Clairview Qld, 2 hours to the closest major town. I then had to make my own way to Cairns as the repairs would take a few days. I was almost charged for the repair work on the van however it was clear that it was due to a previous repair. I realize this has nothing to do with Transfer car but I would not have agreed to driving up an old Starwagon if I had known this is what it would have been. In future please make sure there are accurate pictures and descriptions of the van’s that will actually be provided.
