An AA map of the region of location would be helpful. And I felt the girl who served me at Thrifty could have taken a little more time over briefing me on the use of a type of car I was unfamiliar with. My thought was... No wonder so many overseas people have accidents. How many would be likely to have the exact same kind of car? Realistically very few I would think. If we want less accidents then it's all well and good to just say here's the car to a kiwi perhaps but many overseas people also have to contend with driving on the other side of the road as well! The sticker for them, about keeping left could be located in a much more obvious position - like centre of the driving wheel. I enjoyed my experience but thought a lot about visitors to NZ being dealt with hastily and impatiently as I felt I was.

Clearer communication around possible variance in vehicle type. Booked to drive a small sedan (pulsar or similar) and was given a 12-seater diesel van! Personally, it wasn’t ideal but manageable because I’ve driven large vehicles before but was less than ideal for my trip I can imagine it would be problematic for others presented with the same situation.
